As a new food producer, the web of regulations, health requirements, testing, etc. etc. is mind boggling. Produco though, gave me straightforward advice that were exactly pertinent to my requirements.
No fuss, no bother. Just great service.

I am pleased to share that the GACC China registration renewal audit onsite this week went very well. Liz showed great leadership throughout and owned this piece of work like one of the family.
Positive feedback from auditors ~very impressed by the level of hygiene throughout the whole facility and the huge effort that has been put into the documentation since the previous visit in June.

I had the pleasure of working in conjunction with Elizabeth Maloney to assist a primary industry with a food safety continuous improvement project.
During our yearlong collaboration I was impressed by the depth of knowledge, skill, experience and expertise that Liz brought to the project. Additionally, Liz demonstrated effective leadership as she navigated the balance required to work alongside factory operators to achieve required outcomes as well as encourage and support management to fulfill their responsibilities, whilst being bold enough to have the tough conversations with executives when required.
I do not hesitate to recommend Liz as a valuable and capable addition to a team who seeks to focus on improving their food safety culture.

I bought Colin in as a consultant to expand the depth and width of quality compliance at The FoodBowl ahead of hiring a Regulatory and Compliance Manager.
Colin bought skills and experience beyond my expectations and was a pleasure to have on the team. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Colin as a consultant, his skills in business and management meant he bought more to the table than food safety and regulatory expertise.

Case Study: Udderly Organic
The journey with Udderly Organic began back in early 2021. Udderly Organic approached Produco as they were looking to build a dairy factory on the farm they own, and make their own brand of milk, using milk sourced from the cows on their organic farm.
To bring their vision to life, Udderly Organic needed to navigate a complex landscape of regulations, including the registration of a Risk Management Programme and further meeting compliance with the Food Act 2014 with the Ministry for Primary Industries. Further organic registration was required for both the facility and their product. The path to success involved meticulous attention to every facet of good manufacturing compliance; premises, equipment, processes, procedures, personnel, raw materials and product.
Despite the challenges imposed by COVID-19 including lockdowns and travel restrictions, the partnership with Udderly Organic remained firmly focused on the end goal. While New Zealand grappled with waves of uncertainty, we continued our remote work seamlessly. Despite delays affecting construction, our commitment to ensuring RMP registration and Organic registration and ensuring timely compliance was delivered within the client timeframe requirements.
Working to Udderly Organics requirements, Produco conducted a thorough Assessment to determine what would be suitable for their factory, also taking into account market scope and product scope.
The project was made up of several key facets:
Project Management:
Produco were responsible for planning, organising and overseeing the entire project. This included managing the project team, and ensuring every aspect of the project contributed to its successful completion within critical timeframes.
Implementation:
Produco drafted all relevant risk management documentation. These documents used the existing baseline farm documentation, both for Risk Management Programme (RMP) and Organic registrations. The approach was to use custom-made solutions that were tailored to the clients specific needs. Current practices were taken into account, while anticipating the future requirements that would be needed for continuous improvement as the business grew and evolved. This included registration of the site and product for RMP and Organic compliance.
Consultancy:
Produco’s expertise in quality assurance, quality control, validation and regulatory compliance knowledge was leveraged to the full benefit of Udderly Organic. One pivotal role was effective liaison with the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) and Auditors to ensure seamless compliance with industry standards and regulations and achieve success under strict timeframes.
Training:
Including training as part of the project was important to the client and Produco to educate about the registration process, timelines, requirements and responsibilities as part of having an RMP. Training staff to correctly conduct quality control and assurance processes was also included. The goal was to provide immediate solutions that required specialist knowledge and also to impart knowledge for long-term success.
In September 2021, we submitted the documentation to MPI. By October, the RMP registration was granted, under certain conditions. It is common practice for conditions to accompany RMP registrations, until the relevant evaluations and validations are completed. During this time, we maintained good communication channels with MPI and Auditors, ensuring our strategies were achievable and also cost-effective for our client; and considered the challenges imposed by the ongoing pandemic.
Produco is privileged to have worked with these passionate and principled individuals, who met every challenge with a laser focus on doing thigs right and never choosing shortcuts.
Some of the key challenges we overcame during the project included:
Challenge #1: Bottle Compatibility & Label Type
Udderly Organic’s dedication to sustainability introduced unique hurdles in milk bottle suitability and packaging. Their preference for reusable glass bottles necessitated careful label selection criteria. We embarked on a quest to source labels that could withstand cleaning and sanitization processes without compromising the products appearance or the company’s eco-conscious goals.
Solution #1: Providing Label Options
We offered Udderly Organic an array of environmentally-friendly label solutions, meticulously outlining the pros and cons of each. This empowered them to make choices aligned with their sustainability goals and production processes.
Challenge #2: Label Compliance Timing Ensuring timely label compliance was imperative. Any delays risked production timelines and product availability to customers.
Solution #2: Assessing Label Compliance in Advance
Recognising the pivotal role of label compliance in production, we proactively assessed the requirements. This proactive stance ensured that label modification and approvals were secured well in advance, minimising any potential delays.
