The Risk Mapping procedure is highly effective as well as being a straightforward and simple exercise to work through in a group situation. The process is to walk the line together as a group and identify the risks at each point. From here, the risks are mapped out as a visual record (see Fig 1. below). All your team members get the opportunity to provide their valued and considered input to the location and nature of the possible risks to food safety control.
Working together, the identified risks are assessed and given a rating. The rating can be a simple Low-Medium-High risk scale or can be more complex, depending on your needs.
Once the risks have been categorised, an action plan is discussed and timeframes are assigned to manage the top to bottom priority risks and help you ensure control of your production.
